Boris Lermontov is obsessed with the idea of finding the best ballerina who will abandon his personal life for the scene. Talented Victoria seems to him an ideal candidate. But soon the girl falls in love with the composer Julian.
Interestingly, in the UK itself, where the picture was shot, the “red shoes” were accepted coolly. But for post -war America, the film was a real breakthrough. Spectators enjoyed the opportunity to touch high art. As a result, in separate cinemas, the film was not shot from the rental for two years in a row.

And 20 years later, exactly the same team from the director and performers of the main roles gathered to remove the continuation “on the needle – 2”, telling about the mature years of the heroes.

The first film Guy Richie for a long time set the style of his future work – the director shot many more criminal comedies with many plot lines. Then he went into less successful experiments, but in 2020 he returned to his favorite topic in “Gentlemen”.

2. Clothing orange

After moving to England, Stanley Kubrick took up the film adaptation of Anthony Berres’s Antiutopia novel. Moreover, the director decided not to regret the audience, showing many scenes of outright violence. So Kubrick wanted to demonstrate what is happening when the state receives absolute control over a person.
But in the end, the picture seemed so provocative that it began to ban it in different countries. And then the Kubrick himself, disappointed with the reaction of the audience, demanded to remove the tape from the British rental.
