After in 1299, the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Rus’ Maxim transferred his residence from Kyiv to Vladimir, it becomes obvious that from now on the center of Rus’ had shifted-from the southwest to the northeast.
For only 14 centuries, the princes fought among themselves for dominance over the Russian lands. For the title of Grand Duke Vladimir, they fought with the varying success of the princes of the Moscow, Tver and Suzdal principalities.
